WORCESTER – The Worcester Police Department, Worcester Fire Department and EMS responded to a report on Grove Street around 1:15 PM on Wednesday, December 8, for a report of a crash near Leslie Drive.
The preliminary investigation revealed a head on collision between a 2021 Jeep Wrangler travelling southwest on Grove Street and 2018 Hyundai Tucson travelling northwest. Witnesses reported the driver of the Jeep operated erratically prior to the crash.
EMS transported the 48-year-old Worcester woman operating the Jeep to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Hospital staff pronounced her dead.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 29-year-old Rutland man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The passenger in the Hyundai, a 28-year-old Rutland woman, required extraction from the Hyundai by the Worcester Fire Department. She was transported for treatment of serious injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
