BOSTON – A local supervisor at the U.S. Postal Service faces a charge for allegedly stealing from the federal government.
Prosecutors announced on Monday that charges were filed in federal court in Boston against Anthony Fernandes, 37, of Douglas, for theft of government money.
According to federal prosecutors, Fernandes fraudulently used his U.S. Postal Service supervisor’s travel authorization account to approve $52,987 in false travel reimbursement requests between April and November 2022.
The charge of theft of government money provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to a $250,000.
