In today’s edition – Monday, March 2 – McDonald’s is declaring today National Egg McMuffin Day with a crazy deal, there’s an event this week to discuss blue green algae in the city’s lakes, Super Tuesday is tomorrow, there’s a pair of photoshoots this week to celebrate Worcester’s residents, and there’s a forum Wednesday night at North High on school funding.

 

Get a Free Egg McMuffin Today

McDonald’s has declared today — Monday, March 2 — as National Egg McMuffin Day.

Customers can get a free Egg McMuffin at participating McDonald’s nationwide. Customers need to download the McDonald’s mobile App to redeem this offer from 6 AM to 10:30 AM today.

There are seven McDonald’s locations in Worcester.

 

City of Worcester’s DPW to Host ‘State of the Lakes’ Wednesday Night

Worcester’s Department of Public Works is hosting “The State of the Lakes: Community Initiatives to Track and Improve Water Quality” on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 PM at the Blackstone Heritage Corridor Visitor Center.

The presentation will be conducted by Jacquelyn Burmeister, senior environmental analyst for the Department of Public Works & Parks.

Volunteer citizen scientists from the Worcester Cyanobacteria Monitoring Collaborative will reveal how they are contributing to a national study on blue green algae and the Worcester Lakes and Ponds Program will present results from the 2019 water quality monitoring season as well as exciting new projects to improve our lakes and ponds in 2020 and beyond.

This event is free and open to the public.

 

Public Forum on Worcester School Spending is Wednesday

The Worcester Public Schools and members of the Worcester School Committee will be conducting another public forum on Wednesday night, March 4, to gather input on how to spend funding the district will receive through the Student Opportunity Act.

The forum will be held at North High School at 6 PM in the school’s cafeteria.

 

Worcester Hosting Pair of Photo Shoots for Residents

Want your photo taken professionally for free?

To celebrate Worcester’s unique identity and diverse residents, the City of Worcester’s Office of Cultural Development will host two photo shoot sessions to collect images for the new “I Am Worcester” photo project.

Get your picture taken for free by professional photographer Matt Wright. Portraits will be printed and exhibited at locations across the city in spring 2020.

To participate in the project, members of the public are invited to attend one of the walk-in photo sessions:

  • March 4 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Worcester PopUp at JMAC, 20 Franklin Street
  • March 7 from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Worcester Public Library, 3 Salem Street

 

Super Tuesday is Tomorrow

Worcester polls are open tomorrow, March 3, for the 2020 presidential primary.

Polls open at 7 AM and close at 8 PM.
