The minimum wage in Massachusetts is now $13.50 per hour. The rise from the previous minimum, $12.00, went into effect on January 1, 2021.
Attorney General Maura Healey’s office made the wage and hour poster, which state law requires employers to display, available on its website.
The law that raised the minimum wage was passed in 2018. The wage rises each year until it reaches $15 in 2023.
Tipped employees also saw their minimum wage rise to $5.55 hour, provided that their tips bring them up to at least $13.50 per hour. If the total hourly rate for the employee including tips does not equal $13.50 at the end of the shift, the employer must make up the difference.
