BOSTON – The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) announced its spring 2024 schedules on Thursday, April 25, including reintroducing a weekday morning express train to Boston.
Starting on Monday, May 20, an express train will leave Worcester to arrive at 8:45 AM in Boston. The train will make stops in Framingham and Landsdowne.
The MBTA did not announce when the express train will leave Worcester. The schedule on the MBTA website for the Framingham/Worcester Line still displays the current schedule for May 20.
There was no announcement on a change in the afternoon and evening schedules for Worcester/Framingham Line, which does not have an express route outbound back to Worcester.
Other commuter rail service changes to take effect May 20, announced by the MBTA on Thursday:
- Fairmont Line frequency will increase from every 45 minutes to every 30 minutes;
- Service at South Attleboro Station will resume with three morning inbound and three evening outbound trips. Services was suspended in 2021;
- CapeFLYER round trips between Boston and Cape Cod will return on Memorial Day weekend. It runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Labor Day; and
- Schedule adjustments at Newburyport/Rockport, Lowell, Fitchburg, Haverhill, Franklin, and Providence Lines.
