WORCESTER – A multi-agency investigating of a double-shooting near Institute Park on Aug. 28, during the Caribbean Festival.
At around 6 PM on Aug. 28, officers on the scene reported hearing gunshots near Salisbury and Boynton St., leading to an 15-year-old and a 23-year-oldvictim
Worcester police officers quickly located two victims, a 15-year-old and a 23-year-old, after shots were fired. Both were sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that shots were fired on Boynton St, close to its intersection with Salisbury St. It was determined that both victims were innocent bystanders, unrelated to the conflict and were not the intended targets.
On September 12th, a multi-agency effort. acting on a tip, sought Omar Molina in connection with the shooting.
Worcester Police officers, Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Squad, MSP K9 officers, and US Marshals led the search.
After receiving information that Molina was in Holden, officers swiftly located and arrested him.
Molina faces charges of:
- Armed Assault with Intent to Murder;
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without an LTC (2nd or subsequent offense); and
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling.
