Worcester Man Arrested for Mt. Pleasant St. Shooting

UPDATE July 10, 4:30 PM: Worcester Police have arrested Jose Merced, 33, of Worcester in connection with the Mt Pleasant St. shooting on Thursday, July 9.

Merced faces charges of Armed Assault to Murder, Assault and Battery by Gun, Use of a Firearm in a Felony, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of the Building.

 

WORCESTER – The Worcester Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon, July 9, on Mt. Pleasant St.

Around 4:50 PM, police were dispatched for a report of a gunshot victim. Officers located a conscious male victim and rendered medical aid. The victim was transported to a local hospital by paramedics.

The WPD CSU and Detective Bureau arrived at the scene and began an investigation.
