WORCESTER – A local woman faces Larceny, Vandalism, and other charges after being arrested for a confrontation with a man on Saturday, March 30.

According to the Worcester Police Department, Carmen Ortiz, 29, of Worcester, approached a customer at McDonald’s on Shrewsbury Street at around 6:45 PM. After the man declined, Ortiz stormed out of the restaurant, swearing at the man.

When the man exited the restaurant, he allegedly found Ortiz inside his vehicle, searching his glove box. When the man ran to confront her, a detail officer on the scene took notice.

The customer reported to the officer that he had a wallet with $300 in the vehicle that was now missing. The department says the officer noticed the woman was making a fist with one hand, with paper money visible inside her hand. When the officer informed Ortiz he could see money inside her hand, she allegedly dropped the money and ran.

The man recovered $300 and declined to press charges.

While walking to his car, police say Ortiz ran to his car, kicked it, and left a visible dent.

Ortiz was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Larceny from a Motor Vehicle;
  • Vandalism;
  • Resisting Arrest;
  • Disorderly Conduct; and
  • Disturbing the Peace.
