WORCESTER – A search warrant executed by Worcester Police officers at a hotel led to the arrests of two individuals on Thursday, November 16th.
At around 9:45 AM, Angel Ortiz, 37, and Zakarra Ortiz, 18, were detained by officers as they left a Plantation Street hotel room. The search inside revealed a substantial amount of cocaine and a loaded handgun.
The investigation led to an additional search warrant at a U-Haul storage facility on Hammond Street. This search resulted in the seizure of another handgun and a shotgun.
Angel Ortiz faces charges of:
- Trafficking in a Class B Substance over 200 Grams;
- Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony;
- Improper Storage of a Firearm;
- three counts of Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card (2nd and subsequent);
- Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute; and
- Armed Career Criminal Level 3.
Zakarra Ortiz faces charges of:
- Trafficking in a Class B Substance over 200 Grams; Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card;
- Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony; and
- Improper Storage of a Firearm.
