Resurfacing of I-290 East in Worcester Likely to Start this Summer

WORCESTER – The resurfacing of I-290 Eastbound in Worcester from Shrewsbury Street to Lake Quinsigamond is expected to begin later this summer.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation [MassDOT], the $10 million project will repave more than two miles from Exit 15 to past the Plantation St exit [Exit 21] on the westbound side of the bridge over Lake Quinsigamond.

MassDOT will advertise the project starting next month and they anticipate construction to begin in the second half of the 2020 construction season.

The project will be funded through the 2020 Transportation Improvement Program for the Central Massachusetts Metropolitan Planning Organization.
