WORCESTER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation says the RMV anticipates the opening of the new Worcester service center to happen this summer.
The RMV is moving their Worcester branch from 611 Main St. to Southwest Commons plaza at 50 S.W. Cutoff inside the space previously occupied by Big Y Supermarket. The move was initially planned to take place last fall.
They signed a lease agreement in early 2021 for the space.
MassDOT said a specific opening date isn’t available right now, as it will be dependent upon the receipt of equipment that is currently backordered due to supply chain issues.
When it does open, all transactions available at the downtown RMV location will be offered at the new location. There are roughly 250 parking spaces at the new location.
