Shrewsbury Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Trafficking Charges

SHREWSBURY – A traffic stop in Shrewsbury led to a woman facing drug trafficking charges on Monday, April 19.

The officer engaged a traffic stop round 12:45 AM and the driver, Kerdinand Percy Fuentes, 30, of Worcester, admitted he did not have a valid drivers license. The owner of the vehicle, Christina Cruz-Rios, 38, of Worcester, was unconscious in the back seat.

The officers at the scene observed drug paraphernalia. Another passenger placed an item, later found to be a pipe, under the back seat.

The investigation led to the discovery of 81 grams of suspected heroin and cocaine in Cruz-Rios’s possession.

Fuentes faces charges of operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense.

Cruz-Rios faces charges of trafficking heroin, possession of cocaine, and reckless endangerment of a child.
