WORCESTER – Kiddie pools filled with snowballs and stacks of cardboard boxes were waiting outside of Sneakerama on Lake Avenue in Worcester on Thursday night at the finish line of their weekly fun run.

Dozens of runners ran the 3-mile stretch down Lake Avenue and back to the longtime sneaker and athletic store at 12 Lake Ave., just a few doors down from the corner of Belmont Street.
After the fun run, runners took sides and took turns throwing snowballs at one another from behind their cardboard box forts. With temperatures reaching into the mid-90s on Thursday, the annual snowball fight couldn’t have come at a better time.
“This is a family oriented event we have people here with strollers, people in wheel chairs,” Sneakerama owner Steve Genatossio said. “Where else can someone who just moved to Worcester go and instantly become part of a community?”
The snowballs came courtesy of the Worcester Ice Center.
At the event, Sneakerama raffled off two pairs of sneakers and a backpack.
