WORCESTER – Table Talk Pies announced today that it was acquired by Rise Baking Company, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The company will continue to operate as Table Talk Pies from its headquarters on Gardner Street in Worcester. In a statement released by Table Talk today, the company said it does not expect and major changes in the day-to-day operations of the company.
Table Talk said it expects the acquisition deal to bring additional production capacity to its local facilities, which may create a need to add to its 350 employees.
“This is an exciting time for Table Talk Pies, and this agreement with Rise Baking Company will help preserve the Table Talk Pies brand for years to come,” said Cliff Rucker, Owner and Governor of the Worcester Railers and Director of Table Talk Pies. “When we entered this partnership, the goal was to make sure the brand would be stabilized and set up for future success.”
Founded in Worcester in 1924, Table Talk Pies remained in the family of co-founded Theodore Tonna for a century.
“I’ve been very impressed with the people from Rise Baking and their integrity,” said Harry Kokkinis, Executive Chairman of the Board of Table Talk Pies and grandson of the founder of the business. “I’m sure they will be great stewards of the Table Talk legacy and the employees who have worked so hard to make this company great.”
Rise Baking Company formed in 2013 and own brands that include Brill, South Coast Baking, Best Maid Cookie Company, Henry & Henry, New French Bakers, and Bakestone Brothers. The company produces breads, cookies, brownies, cakes, crispy bars, muffins and pies. It also produces fillings, glazes, icings, laminates, toppings and whipped toppings.
