Third Person Tests Positive for Coronavirus in Worcester

WORCESTER – A third individual from Worcester has tested positive for coronavirus. All three individuals are being monitored by the Worcester Division of Public Health [WDPH] and are in isolation.

Of the five other cases under investigation by the WDPH, four have tested negative. Results are still pending for the fifth.

In a briefing Monday evening Worcester City Manager Ed Augustus also reported a number of other updates.

City Buildings

Starting Wednesday, March 18, a number of buildings will be closed to the public until further notice. They are:

  • City Hall
  • The Senior Center
  • Worcester Public Library
  • Department of Public and Parks buildings
  • 25 Meade St.

Virtual participation in public meetings  is not available.

Public Meetings Phone Conference System

Worcester has implemented a phone conference system so members of the public can take part in open meetings. The numbers are:

For COVID-19 Information

Starting Thursday, March 19, the COVID-19 information line will be open. Individual who are awaiting test results or have tested positive for COVID-19 will be able to call for information or speak to a nurse between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday. The number is (508) 7999-1019

The latest information on COVID-19 will be posted on the City’s website.

All programming not related to COVID-19 on the City Government Channel (Channel 192 on Charter) has been suspended.
