Today’s Weather in Worcester – Saturday, January 25

By TWIW Staff | January 25, 2020
Last Updated: February 2, 2021

WORCESTER – A period of heavy rain is expected across Central Massachusetts from late Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.

This is expected to be a quick-hitting storm with a majority of the rainfall expected in a three to six-hour period between 6 PM and 11 PM.

Total rainfall amounts of between one inch (1.00”) and one and one half inches (1.50”) are expected with up to one inch of that rain falling in about a three-hour period. This will likely lead to localized urban, highway and poor drainage flooding.

In addition, a rumble or two of thunder is also possible late this afternoon through this evening across the entire area.

The rain will quickly come to an end by midnight Saturday night.

High temperatures Saturday afternoon will be between 40 and 45 degrees. Low temperatures Saturday night will be between 30 and 35 degrees.

Sunday: A mixture of sunshine and clouds is expected throughout Sunday and there may be some scattered rain shower activity from time to time. High temperatures Sunday will be between 40 and 45 degrees.

Monday: A mixture of sunshine and clouds is expected on Monday. In addition, some scattered showers are possible from time to time. High temperatures Monday will be between 40 and 45 degrees.

Remainder of week:

Tuesday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 35 and 40 degrees.

Wednesday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 35 and 40 degrees.

Thursday is expected to be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees.

Friday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 35 and 40 degrees.

Next Weekend:

The next chance for a storm still looks to be between next Saturday and next Sunday as an area of low pressure may make its way up the East Coast of the United States. At this point, it’s way too soon to tell whether this storm will bring all snow, all rain or something in-between. In fact, there’s even a possibility that this storm may even move to our south and bring us nothing.

Two things:

First is that know that I am keeping a very close eye on this possible storm and I will continue to have updates for you as needed.

Second thing is IGNORE any posts on social media that already show forecast snow totals for next weekend. I can tell you by looking at all of the data this morning that even though this is a storm to definitely watch, it is way too soon to even discuss snow totals. The track of this possible storm hasn’t even been ironed out yet and the weather forecast guidance that I look have possibilities that range from a rain storm to several inches of snow to nothing at all from this storm.
