WORCESER – Worcester Police arrested a local man and woman for the kidnapping of a four-day-old baby on Saturday, August 21.

According to Worcester Police, the mother of the four-day-old baby had been in frequent contact with a female acquaintance, Kassidy Lauziere-Cuevas, 19, of Millbury, on Facebook. The mother had not met Lauziere-Cuevas in person, but the two planned to get coffee together on Saturday.

Lauziere-Cuevas stopped at the Gulf Gas Station at 590 Southbridge Street. The mother briefly entered the store and Lauziere-Cuevas drove away with the baby.

The mother immediately flagged down a Holy Cross Police officer, who called Worcester Police to assist at around 9:15 AM.

As ThisWeekInWorcester.com previously reported, Worcester Police asked for help from the public and issued updates on the case several times during the morning and early afternoon. Police also used the reverse 911 system.

Around 10:10 AM, police located the vehicle Lauziere-Cuevas was driving was in Shrewsbury. Lauziere-Cuevas nor the baby were in the vehicle at the time.

At around 12:05 PM, Worcester Police received a call that a male left the baby with an uninvolved citizen at Subway at 490 Lincoln Street in Worcester. That citizen called police leading to the mother and baby being reunited.

Officers received information that Lauziere-Cuevas and Daquan Jefferson, 23, of Worcester, were near Wendy’s on Lincoln Street.

Police found both at Lauziere-Cuevas and Jefferson at Wendy’s.

Lauziere-Cuevas and Jefferson face charges of Kidnapping and Reckless Endangerment of a Child.
