WORCESTER – Police responded to Young Street on Sunday, Oct. 8, after reports of a gunshot victim at around 9:30 PM. Police arrived to find a large crowd and a 19-year=old female suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical responders transported the teen to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the Worcester Police Department, officers determined that a fight between several females occurred during a large party. During the fight, a man, Carlos Hernandez Villegas, of Danielson, CT, fired a handgun, striking the female.
Officers recovered a loaded handgun and placed the Villegas in custody. Villegas did not have a Massachusetts License for the weapon.
Villegas faces charges of:
- Armed Assault to Murder;
- Assault and Battery by Firearm;
- Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm; Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm;
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License;
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card;
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling; and
- Possession of a Firearm while in the Commission of a Felony.
