WORCESTER – A new business in downtown Worcester brings a health conscious fruit drink alternative to local residents.

Woo Juice officially opened its doors inside the Midtown Mall on Friday. The business, founded by Isaiah Tatum and Noel Stemn, has been a project years in the making.

“We’ve been friends since middle school. We met at the Nativity School. I was at his house playing video games and we would bounce business ideas off each other for years before we did something with them.” Issaiah Tatum told This Week In Worcester. “When I went to Atlanta and saw the juice bars there I realized this was something missing from Worcester and I finally knew what we needed to do.”

Customers who now come to the store can be treated with a collection of juices, teas, smoothies, wellness shots and seasonal drinks. Most of the unique beverages on the menu like, “Kelly Street Splash” or “Woo Sox Smiley” are themed specifically around the City of Worcester and its many locations and cultural aspects.

“We just want to bring a healthy alternative to our city.” WooJuice co-owner Noel Stemn said. “Just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean it can’t be delicious.”

State Senator Michael Moore delivered a Citation of Congratulations on behalf of the Massachusetts State Senate in recognition of the ribbon cutting ceremony as a number of figures from the political and business community in attendance spoke.

“I just want to thank everyone whose been helping get this up and going.” Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty told the crowd during the stores opening. “We’ve been seeing a lot of businesses opening up its great for the city and great for the midtown mall”

Mayor Petty wasn’t alone in his praise of the revitalization of the Midtown Mall. “This is a great thing to see Woo Juice is bringing life back into the mall.” Said Will Daughtry, a nearby business owner who owns the Concrete Collection vintage clothing store. “You’ve got the juice store, the donut shop, they are about to open a wine store pretty soon and a gym upstairs. We’re seeing a midtown mall renaissance and Woo Juice is another part of helping to bring it.”

Woo Juice is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Saturday
