WORCESTER – Troopers with the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section [VFAS] and Worcester Police arrested a man on Monday, May 10, suspected in a double shooting in Worcester in April.
VFAS and Worcester Police established surveillance based on information that the suspect, Angel Garrrastegui, 21, of Worcester, was in the Stafford St. area.
Surveillance observed a man matching Garrrastegui’s description walking to a nearby store on Monday.
Garrrastegui attempted to flee, but apprehended shortly after being identified.
Police sought Garrrastegui related to a double shooting on April 10. A man, who Police believe to be Garrrastegui, shot at a group of people during an altercation, wounding two. Both victims survived.
Garrrastegui faces charges of:
- Armed assault with intent to murder (2 counts)
- Assault and battery with a firearm (2 counts)
- Carrying a firearm without a license
- Unlawful carrying of a loaded firearm
- Discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling
- Use of a firearm in commission of a felony and
- Possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card
