WORCESTER – A fire during the early morning hours of Thursday, June 18, brought the Worcester Fire Department and Worcester Police to Worcester Arts Magnet School on Saint Nicholas Ave.
Police located Jordan Calderon, 21, Worcester, behind the building.
The investigation concluded that Calderon started a brush fire that spread onto nearby materials and eventually onto the roof of the school.
The fire set off the sprinkler system inside the school, causing flooding in multiple classrooms and damaged materials.
Calderon is facing charges of willful, malicious, destruction of property and arson of a public building.
Worcester Arts Magnet School is a Worcester Public School for students from pre-kindergarten to 6th grade.
