WORCESTER – The City of Worcester reopened the bid for a Request for Proposal for executive search firm consulting services for a new city manager.

As ThisWeekinWorcester.com reported on July 16, the City received just one qualifying proposal for the initial RFP which closed on June 29. GovHR USA was the only executive search firm providing a bid.

The City reopened the bid on Thursday and the bid will close on Aug.24. at 10 AM.

Former City Manager Edward Augustus stepped down from the job on May 31 and Assistant City Manager Eric Batista took over on June 1 as acting City Manager.

GovHR USA has some experience in Worcester, as they helped the lead the search for the Worcester Public Library’s director of libraries in 2020. They list Worcester Public Library board president Stephanie Pasha as a reference on the firm’s proposal.

The GovHR USA proposal calls for a roughly three and a half months search process to find Worcester’s next city manager, which would include a brochure, advertising, recruitment, evaluation, interviews and more, with a candidate being appointed in week 13 or 14 of the search.
