The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) Office of Grants and Research (OGR) has awarded the Worcester Police Department (WPD) a grant to increase the number of patrols for impaired driving over the holiday season.

Along with Massachusetts State Police (MSP) and other local departments across the state, WPD will be part of an enforcement mobilization for the national campaign Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over (DSOGPO).

WPD Chief Steven Sargent said increased patrols will begin tonight.

The total grant award is $50,000 and runs at different parts of the year. The first part  is for $7,187.50 and runs now through January 20th, 2020

“Arranging for a sober ride home before celebrating should be a part of everyone’s plans this holiday season,” said Jeff Larason, Director of the OGR Highway Safety Division. “Remember – If you feel different, you drive different.”
