WORCESTER – A new set of electric vehicle (EV) charging station will come online on Tuesday on Providence Street.

Boston-based Global Partners, an operator of several retail gas stations and convenience stores, is launching the EV charging stations at Xtra Mart store at 280 Providence St.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, at 11 AM at the store. Worcester Mayor Joe Petty, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bonnie Heiple, and other are expected to attend.

The project received incentives through the Massachusetts Electric Vehicle Incentive Program (MassEVIP) and National Grid’s Electric Vehicle Charging Station Make-Ready Programs. The Massachusetts Clean Energy and Climate Plan calls for 300,000 EVs on the road and 75,000 public charging stations across the state by 2030.
