Three from Out-of-State Arrested for Coordinated Shoplifting

WORCESTER – Police arrested three individuals from out-of-state for stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise from a local retail store on Sunday, Jan. 28.

Police responded to a report of coordinating shoplifting from the Target store on Lincoln Street. Upon arrival, witnesses informed officers the three suspects left in a white Toyota Camry.

Police located the vehicle on Lincoln Street and conducted a traffic stop.

According to the Worcester Police Department, police reviewed surveillance footage from the store while detaining the suspects. The footage enabled police to confirm they were the same individuals seen in the video.

Police also say the footage made it clear the three were working together to steal merchandise.

George Gvelesiani, 35, of Philadelphia, Vakhtang Barkalaia, 41, of Brooklyn, and Giorgi Adeishvili, 41, of Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, were arrested and face the following charges:

  • Larceny over $1200;
  • Organized Retail Crime; and
  • Deactivation or Removal of a Theft Detection Device.
