In today’s edition – Friday, February 25 – Massachusetts trial courts are closed today, the Worcester DPW is hiring a security guard and parking control officer, get $25 tickets to four Hanover Theatre shows today only, the Worcester Chamber Music Society is having a free concert on March 6, and the WooSox are hosting a movie night at Polar Park.

Massachusetts Trial Courts Closed on Friday

Massachusetts Trial Courts will be closed today — Friday, February 25 —  in the interest of public safety due to the snowstorm.

All court events, scheduled in-person and remote, are postponed.

Anyone with court dates on Friday should contact the clerk’s or register’s office on Monday to reschedule.

Worcester DPW Hiring Security Guard, Parking Control Officer

The Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks Water Operations Division (Reservoir Section) is hiring a Reservoir Security Guard. Reservoir Security Guards are responsible for protective work in safeguarding and patrolling DPW&P watershed areas, properties and buildings.

The position requires extensive driving and walking on a regular basis.

The DPW is also hiring a Parking Control Officer.

The Parking Control Officer patrols an assigned area for the purpose of enforcing motor vehicle parking regulations for the City of Worcester.

The shows include “The Red Hot Chili Pipers,” “Anastasia,” “The Prom,” and “The Band’s Visit.”

Worcester Chamber Music Society Free Family Concert on March 6

Worcester Chamber Music Society (WCMS) presents its Annual Free Family Concert on Sunday, March 6, at the Jean McDonough Arts Center at 20 Franklin Street. There are two performances, at 1:30 PM and 4 PM.

Neighborhood Strings students will perform at the beginning of each performance.

This year, WCMS presents Aaponi’s Destiny, an interactive create-your-own musical adventure. The Ecotarium will have a mayfly/insect display and artwork by Worcester students will complete the experience.

WooSox Host “Fever Pitch” Movie Night

The Worcester Red Sox host movie night at Polar Park on Friday, March 4, from 6 PM to 9 PM. The film, “Fever Pitch,” begins at 6:30 PM.

Tickets are $10 and include endless free popcorn, Table Talk Pies, and Polar bottled water.  Fans can also purchase traditional concessions fare and enjoy a cash bar.

Inside the DCU Club, the movie will be shown on large projector screens and ancillary televisions. Fans may also watch the movie from the stands on the giant video board. Blankets are permitted.
