In today’s edition – Thursday, December 1 – Ziggy Bombs hosts its grand opening on Friday, Rotmans is hosting an auction preview this weekend, an upcoming Guns to Gardens buyback is announced, the Worcester Youth Council is hiring and Dairy Queen adds two Blizzards to its winter menu.

Ziggy Bombs Grand Opening on Friday

Ziggy Bombs, at 72 Franklin St., opens on Friday after a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3 PM. The specialty steak and cheese subs restaurant will be open during Friday’s Festival of Lights from 3 PM to 10 PM.

The restaurant will reopen Saturday from 3 PM to 10 PM.

Rotmans Hosting Special Auction Preview

Rotmans, which announced in October its plans to go out of business, will hold a live auction preview on Saturday and Sunday at its store at 725 Southbridge St. from 9 AM to 3 PM on both days.

Central Mass Auctions is operating the online auction. Online bidding ends on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 6 PM.

Notable items include the Worcester Worcesters baseball club’s 1880 application for admittance into the National League, along with the acceptance letter from the league office. There are also 19th century tobacco boxes depicting the “Worcester Nine” baseball team.

Guns to Gardens Buyback on Saturday, December 10

A gun buyback on Saturday, Dec. 10, offers grocery store gift cards for firearms. Anonymity is ensured and no gun registration is required. The drive offers gift card values of $50 for a rifle, $100 for a pistol, and $150 for an automatic.

Non-operable guns, ammunition, and firearm accessories will also be accepted, but no gift cards are issued for these items.

Weapons can be dropped off in Worcester at City Welding and Sheet Fabrication between 9 AM and 3 PM.

The Worcester police Department and other area police departments takin part in the drive, including:

  • Athol Police Department: 10 AM to 2 PM
  • Auburn Police Department: 10 AM to 2 PM
  • Dudley Police Department: 9 AM to 1 PM
  • Fitchburg Police Department: 9 AM to 1 PM
  • Leominster Police Department: 9 AM dto 2 PM
  • Northborough Police Department: 9 AM to 1 PM
  • Spencer Police Department: 9 AM to 1 PM

Dairy Queen Winter Blizzards

Dairy Queen brings back one blizzard and introduces a new blizzard for the winter season.

The new Sugar Cookie Blizzard is now available at Dairy Queen. Also, the returning Candy Cane Blizzard is now available.

Dairy Queen in Worcester is at 721 Grafton St.
