Community Listening Session with City Manager Batista

Newly appointed City Manager Eric Batista will attend the first of five community listening session held by the Worcester City Council tonight at 5:30 PM at North High School at 140 Harrington Way.

Call for Nominations for 2023 Women of Consequence Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the 24th annual Woman of Consequence and the 20th annual Young Woman of Consequence awards, presented by the City of Worcester Advisory Committee on the Status of Women.

The deadline for nominations is midnight Jan. 22, 2023. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday March 8, 2023.

Nominee criteria for the Woman of Consequence Award:

  • Exceptional leadership
  • Demonstrated dedication and compassion resulting in positive change
  • Outstanding role models of community engagement
  • Live, work or volunteer in the City of Worcester
  • Willing to serve as a mentor to present and future young/women of consequence awardees
  • Must be available for an acceptance speech at the award ceremony

Nominee criteria for the Young Woman of Consequence Award:

  • Currently a junior or senior in high school
  • Reside in Worcester
  • Demonstrate dedication and leadership abilities
  • Must agree to give acceptance speech for the award ceremony

Worcester Regional Food Hub Launches Startup Food Business Course

The Worcester Regional Food Hub and the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce are now accepting applications for its “Launching Diverse Food Entrepreneurs” course.

Classes are held on Thursday evenings from Feb. 2 through March 30. Applications are due Friday, Jan. 6.

Worcester Chamber Music Society Baroque Concert

Worcester Chamber Music Society performs its Baroque concert to kick off the winter holidays. Season of Light will be performed on two consecutive nights at 7:30 PM:

  • Thursday, Dec. 8 – Princeton Congregational Church
  • Friday, Dec. 9 – Worcester Historical Museum

The program includes:

  • Arcangelo Corelli Concerto Gross Op 6, #11
  • Isabella Leonarda “Sonata duodecima” for violin and continuo
  • Joseph-Marie-Clement dall’Abaco Caprice No 1 for solo cello
  • Georg Phillip Telemann Concerto in G major for 4 violins
  • Johann Sebastian Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, BWV 1050

Worcester Housing Authority Holiday Meals Program

The Worcester Housing Authority’s Holiday Meal Program visits the community room of several Worcester properties for a free holiday season meal for residents.
