Berry Fusion on Pleasant St. Under New Ownership

Berry Fusion — a frozen yogurt shop at 807 Pleasant St. in Worcester — is under new ownership. The new ownership group includes former Worcester teachers’ union president Leonard Zalauskus.

According to multiple Facebook posts from the new owners [like the one below], the first week under new ownership was a successful one. 

The shop opened back in 2012. It offers a different variety of frozen yogurt flavors and toppings each day. 

 

Chopped! Worcester Coming to Maronis Park in October

Jeremiah’s Inn is presenting Chopped! Worcester 2019 on Monday, Oct. 7 from 6 PM to 9 PM. The culinary contest features four chefs using three mystery ingredients to make two courses for a panel of judges.

A “Golden Cleaver” award will go to the Most Creative Chef.

Tickets are $35 and will be available on August 1. Tickets will be available here.  Proceeds will go to support Jeremiah’s Inn — a food pantry and substance abuse recovery home for men.

Maronis Park is located at 52 Quinsigamond Ave. in Shrewsbury. 

Preservation Worcester Hosting Major Taylor Bike Tour

Preservation Worcester will be hosting a bike tour on Sunday, Aug. 4 to celebrate the accomplishments of world champion bicyclist Major Taylor. 

Major Taylor Blvd runs through downtown Worcester between Foster and Highland streets, a downtown monument of Major Taylor stands outside the Worcester Public Library, and the Major Taylor Association of Worcester is dedicated to educating people about Major Taylor’s accomplishments and his life in Worcester.

The bike tour will make eight stops and last from 9:30 AM to 11 AM [roughly]. The course is mostly flat and each stop will be accompanied by a brief speaking portion.

The tour is free to Preservation Worcester members and $5 for non-members. 

 

Boxing Event to Be Held at Union Station for Why Me & Sherry’s House

On Friday, Sept. 20, Shearns Boxing is presenting “Friday Night Fights at the Station” — a night of professional boxing to benefit Why Me & Sherry’s House.

The evening will feature seven professional bouts, a full bar, raffles, and silent auctions.  VIP tables are available. Tickets can be purchased at WhyMe.org.

Doors open at 6:30 PM and the event starts at 7 PM.

 

ArtReach Studios is Hosting an Open House

On Sunday, Aug. 4, ArtReach Studios — run by ThisWeekinWorcester.com’s own Darcy Schwartz — is hosting an open house from 1 PM to 3 PM.

Guests of the open house will be able to register for ArtReach’s After School Creative Arts Immersion Program, as well as Fall classes and workshops.
