CBS Boston Features Worcester as “Birthplace of Candle pin Bowling”

As most of you Worcesterites know [or should know], Worcester is the birthplace of candle pin bowling. Last week, CBS Boston featured Worcester in its special: “It Happened Here: Worcester, the Birthplace of Candle Pin Bowling.”

It’s a quick Worcester history lesson and hopefully it inspires you to go check out Colonial Bowling Center on Mill St. 

 

Davis Art Gallery Opening an “Unconventional” Exhibit

The Davis Art Gallery will hold an opening reception on June 6 from 5 PM to 7 PM for its first exhibition in the newly renovated Printers Building Space, Unconventional: Exploring Unusual Materials and Processes 

The exhibit will run from June 7, 2019 through August 16, 2019. 

The exhibit will feature more than 60 pieces of art done in innovative ways including sculpture, painting, prints, mosaics, and many other art forms.

National Hamburger Day in Downtown Worcester

The AC Hotel Marriott in downtown Worcester is celebrating National Hamburger Day on Tuesday, May 28 from 5 PM to 10 PM.

The hotel’s AC Lounge will have a burger slider special and a savory signature burger special, as well special craft cocktails for the special day. 

 

Notre Dame Academy Names New Enrollment Director

Notre Dame Academy announced last week that Caitlin Sargent Lubelczyk ’00, has been named Director of Enrollment and Marketing. Lubelczyk, who has served as the Director of Marketing and Communications and Alumnae Relations since July 2017, will begin her role as the Director of Enrollment effective immediately.

 

Holy Cross Awards 698 Bachelor of Arts Degrees

On Friday morning, the College of the Holy Cross awarded 698 bachelor of arts degrees at its 173rd commencement exercises at the DCU Center.

Jane McAuliffe, a world-renowned scholar of Islam and a senior leader at the Library of Congress, delivered the commencement address to the Class of 2019 and received an honorary degree.
