The Boston Marathon has been postponed due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
The Marathon becomes another sporting event in a long line of recent cancellations this week. The NBA and NHL have suspended their seasons, Major League Baseball has pushed the start of its season back at least two weeks. The Worcester Railers cancelled the rest of their season yesterday.
The Boston Marathon, the second longest continuously running footrace in North America, began in 1897.
The Marathon is typically run on Patriots Day, the third Monday in April.
