WORCESTER – A gunshot heard by Worcester Police officers on patrol during the early morning of Friday, September 10, leading to the arrest of a man on firearms charges.
Officers noticed Joan Rosado-Maldonado, 41, of Douglans, standing alone in front of 600 Main Street while on patrol around Main Street and Austin Street. After turning a corner, they heard a single gunshot.
Officers returned to the area where they saw Rosado-Maldonado and noticed him inside the lobby at 600 Main Street.
Officers approached Rosado-Maldonado, who wore a blue satchel, and asked him to show his hands. According to the Worcester Police Department, the man pulled away, leading to his detention.
Officers found a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number inside Rosado-Maldonado’s satchel. Officers also spoke to witnesses and gathered evidence of a shot fired.
Rosado-Maldonado faces charges of:
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
- Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling
- Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
- Armed Career Criminal
- Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony
- Intimidation of a Witness
