WORCESTER-  Local pop-punk cover band Chase The Past is ready to perform their 10th Emo Night Worcester event on Saturday.

“Worcester is the perfect place for this event to bolster the local [emo] scene,” lead vocalist Aadam Clegg said. “It’s a safe space for people to enjoy music of the late 90s and early 2000s.”

Chase the Past cover songs from bands like Paramore, Jimmy Eat World and Something Corporate during their two-hour set at Electric Haze on Millbury St. The show starts at 8:30 PM.

“It’s a party. Come down, have a few beers, invite your friends. It’s all about having a good time,” guitarist Nick Cosenza said. “There are times [Clegg] doesn’t have to sing because everyone else in the crowd is singing the words. Their passion is just as great as ours.”

Along with Clegg and Cosenza, the other band members include guitarist Sean O’Connell, drummer Dave Erickson, and bassist Don Barry.

“For those who don’t know the music, you can still come and have a good time. If you have never heard it give it a try. The genre of emo is so diverse and means so many different things to so many different people that you might find your particular type of emo,” O’Connell said.

The band’s message to their audience and aspiring musicians is “…Don’t be afraid to not play your own music. Being able to get people excited about music, even when it’s not your own is important and can even give original artists the chance to gain new fans,” Clegg said.

O’Connell added, “Find the music that you love and emulate that, just start somewhere, and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. You can learn anything.”

The venue will include a cash bar for guests. Tickets are sold at the door for $10. The band will be providing giveaways throughout the evening including merchandise and free entries to future shows.

Lowell-based band Ebonhart will open the show with an 18-song set.

The band’s next Emo Night Worcester will be held at the Beer Garden in downtown Worcester on June 20 at 8 PM.
