MassDOT Hosting Public Meeting in Worcester on New Exit Numbers Tonight

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation [MassDOT] is holding a public meeting tonight to inform the public on the changes coming with new exit sign numbers on interstate highways. 

The meeting will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Blackstone Heritage Corridor Visitor Center at 3 Paul Clancy Way in Worcester. 

 

Two Fire Lieutenants to be Promoted to Captain

The City of Worcester will host a ceremony recognizing the promotion of two members of the Worcester Fire Department on tomorrow at 5 PM in the Levi Lincoln Chamber of City Hall.

Lieutenants Scott Armstrong and Jesse Verdolino will be promoted to Captain. Lt. Armstrong will be pinned by his father, retired Fire Captain Ronald Armstrong. Lt. Verdolino is being pinned by his wife, Colleen, and daughters Juliana and Jenna.

 

El Basha Hosting Fundraiser Tonight for Boys & Girls Club, Lt. Menard’s Family

El Basha is hosting a fundraiser tonight to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester and the family of fallen firefighter Lt. Jason Menard.

The event runs from 5:30 PM to 9 PM. El Basha is asking everyone that plans on attending to bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift card, or make a monetary donation. Gifts will be distributed to the children at the Boys & Girls Club.

Raffle tickets will be sold to raise money for the family of Lt. Menard. 

City’s Commission on Disability Considering Name Change

On Tuesday, the Commission on Disability will hold their monthly meeting at the Worcester Historical Museum at 4:30. 

At the meeting, the Commission will take up a proposed name change: Accessibility Advisory Commission.

MassDEP Schedules Public Meeting on Drinking Water Standards in Worcester

On Friday, the Baker-Polito Administration announced additional steps to protect residents and communities from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) by filing draft regulations which would establish enforceable standards for public drinking water systems based on the most up-to-date scientific data.

The state also committed $24 million in funds for water infrastructure including statewide PFAS testing and PFAS remediation.

Additionally, the Administration finalized standards for both soil and groundwater for cleanup of PFAS from contaminated sites.

The MassDEP will hold a public meeting to discuss drinking water standards in Worcester on Jan. 15, 2020 at 10 AM at MassDEP’s Central Regional Office at 8 New Bond St.
