Governor Charlie Baker took to Twitter to make his first comments about the nurses’ strike at Saint Vincent Hospital on Friday, September 24.
The Commonwealth needs every available healthcare resource fully operational while we are responding to this pandemic. It’s time for both parties to get back to the table and reach consensus at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Nurses at Saint Vincent Hospital launched the strike on March 8. Friday marked 200 days since the work stoppage began.
The Massachusetts Nursing Association [MNA] released a statement on Friday evening by MNA Vice President and Saint Vincent nurse Marie Ritacco, to respond to Baker’s tweet.
Ritacco said Saint Vincent Hospital CEO Carolyn Jackson is “the person responsible for this crisis.” She also called on Baker to do what he can to convince Jackson “to finally negotiate an equitable end to the dispute that respects the nurses and ensures the safety of our patients.”
