WORCESTER – Each year, the Worcester Public Library (WPL) loans nearly a million books.

And at the end of each year, Caitlin Snow, the assistant circulation manager at WPL compiles a list of the top ten borrowed books for kids, teens, and adults during 2019.

This year, children’s books took eight of the top ten spots — with teen books taking two of the spots.

“The growing popularity of graphic novels and comics with both kids and teens is clear from the top ten lists for those age groups,” said Cynthia Bermudez, youth services coordinator. “The appeal of the graphic format continues to draw kids in, and fortunately that translates into more kids enjoying reading, an important factor in building life-long learners.”
