Two Men Arrested on Drug Distribution Charges in Worcester

WORCESTER – Officers within the Worcester Police Vice Squad arrested two men on Thursday, September 2, who both face drug charges.

According to Worcester Police, officers were conducting surveillance near Lovell Street just before noon on Thursday when they saw what they believed to be a hand-to-hand transaction between a man on foot and another man in an automobile. Officers followed the man in a vehicle to Chandler Street, where he briefly entered a Subaru in a parking lot, then returned to his vehicle.

Carlyle Hines, 45, of Worcester, was driving the Subaru with a revoked license to operate a motor vehicle. Officers also found several bags what what they believed to be cocaine inside Hines’ vehicle.

Officers attempted to stop the other man, Patrick Campbell, 51, of Worcester, near Rockwood Avenue. When they approached his vehicle, Campbell exited and began to run.

Worcester Police say Campbell pushed officers during the pursuit. During a lengthy struggle, Campbell also allegedly attempted to bend one officer’s fingers the wrong way before being arrested.

Officers found over 138 grams of what they believe to be cocaine inside over 30 bags inside Campbell’s vehicle.

Hines faces charges of Operation of a Motor Vehicle after Suspension or Revocation of License, and Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute.

Campbell faces charges of:

  • Trafficking in Cocaine over 100 Grams
  • Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle after Suspension or Revocation of License
  • Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute
