A new study ranks Massachusetts as the safest state during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the start of April, when the state’s transmission rate and hospitalization rates were in the bottom half of all states, and the death rate was of the highest in the country, the same researchers found Massachusetts the 43rd safest state.
Three of the five key metrics considered in the study support the ranking of the state as the safest in the country during the pandemic:
- 1st – Positive Testing Rate
- 2nd – Vaccination Rate
- 2nd – Hospitalization Rate
- 11th – Death Rate
- 24th – Transmission Rate
States in the Northeast perform well in the study, with six of the even states in and around New England in the top seven.
- 1st – Massachusetts
- 2nd – Vermont
- 3rd – Connecticut
- 5th – Rhode Island
- 6th – New Jersey
- 7th – New York
- 14th – Pennsylvania
