Massachusetts Named 2023’s Best State to Raise a Family

The personal-finance and data experts at WalletHub released their report on 2023’s Best States to Raise a Family, ranking Massachusetts #1 overall.

To determine the best states in which to put down family roots, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 51 key indicators of family-friendliness. The data set ranges from the median annual family income to housing affordability to the unemployment rate.

Three other New England states also ranked in the Top 10, including Vermont (#5), New Hampshire (#6) and Connecticut (#10). Rhode Island ranked #11 and Maine is #16.

Raising a Family in Massachusetts (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

• 3^rd – Infant-Mortality Rate
• 14^th – Median Annual Family Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
• 19^th – Violent Crimes per Capita
• 10^th – % of Families in Poverty
• 21^st – Unemployment Rate
• 11^th – Separation & Divorce Rate
• 2^nd – Percentage of Residents Aged 12+ Who Are Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19
