19-Year-Old Worcester Man Arrested on Gun Charges

WORCESTER – Worcester Police Gang Unit officers made an arrest following a pursuit on foot on Wednesday.

Around 6:40 PM, police say officers observed a man walking on Belmont Street who appeared to be holding onto an object in his front sweatshirt pocket. When officers stopped to question the man, he fled on foot.

According to the Worcester Police Department, the man ran down Eastern Avenue with officers in pursuit. After cutting through a yard, he fell down a steep hill where officers lost sight of him.

Officers soon located Cullen McNamara, 19, of Worcester, hiding under some bushes and arrested him.

Officers say they found a loaded firearm near where McNamara fell. He faces charges of:

  • Trespassing; Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm;
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License;
  • Carrying a Firearm without a License;
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card;
  • Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device; and
  • Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace.
