STURBRIDGE – A ranger with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) observed a body, around 20 feet from the shore, in the lower section of the spillway of the Quabbin Reservoir on Friday morning, at around 8:30 AM.
Divers from the Massachusetts State Police responded to recover the body of George Guttler, 71, of Sturbridge. Guttler was reported missing on March 11.
Since Guttler’s disappearance, state and local agencies, including DCR, conducted searches on land, air and water.
The investigation is ongoing and led by the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and the State Police Detective Unit for Hampshire/Franklin Counties.
