Mass State Police Arrest Illinois Man after 80 Mile Pursuit

CHARLTON – Massachusetts State Police Troopers pursued an Illinois man in a stolen vehicle for around 80 miles before taking him into custody on Wednesday morning, April 20.

A Trooper located a 2011 Mitsubishi Endeavor reported stole in Biddeford, Maine, in the parking lot at the Charlton Service Plaza on the westbound side of the Mass Pike at around 7:30 AM. A man, later identified as Kevin Oldaker, 48, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, was sleeping in the back seat.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Oldaker woke up but refused to unlock the doors of the car and began moving around inside the vehicle, claiming he could not locate his keys. He suddenly turned the ignition on and sped away onto the Mass Pike Westbound.

Oldaker refused to stop for Troopers and on two occasions, once and Chicopee and again in Ludlow, utilized crossovers to evade cruisers.

Troopers deployed a tire deflation device, but Oldaker continued to driving into Stockbridge, where he came to a stop. He again refused to exit the vehicle, causing a brief standoff. He surrendered at around 9 AM and was arrested.

A warrant for Oldaker’s was issued in Maine last week on charges of violent stalking. Another warrant issued in Illinois in 2014 seeks Oldaker’s arrest for home invasion and sex assault.

Police have yet to released charges against Oldaker in Massachusetts related to the pursuit on Wednesday.
