Parking in Worcester’s Canal District Just Got Easier

By Patrick Sargent | January 6, 2020

WORCESTER – Last week, parking lots in the city’s Canal District transitioned to a “pay-by-plate” system.

Now, visitors to the area won’t need to worry about remembering their parking space number or placing a receipt on their dashboard.

Instead, anyone that uses the parking lots on Green St., Millbury St. or Water St. will simply go to the pay station at the respective lot, enter their license plate number, the amount of time they need to park, and provide payment.

The “pay-by-plate” system will allow the City to collect data on parking in the district to help improve parking in other areas of the city.

Parking lots in the Canal District with the “pay-by-plate” system will charge just $1 per hour.
