Ricky Duran returns to NBC’s The Voice this week for the singing competition’s battle round.

Last week, Duran received a standing ovation from competition coaches Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Blake Shelton after his performance of “River” by soul singer Leon Bridges.

Duran’s performance turned the chairs of all four coaches within less than 30 seconds into his song.

Duran, 29, of Grafton, chose country music star Shelton as his coach as he moves forward into the battle rounds.

During the Battle Rounds, the coaches pair two of their team members and have them sing against one another. The team members sing the same song at the same time and after their performance, the coach has to choose which singer advances to the “Knockout Rounds.”

The opposing coaches have the opportunity to “steal” the losing contestant. Each coach gets one opportunity for a steal.

For the battle rounds, The Voice coaches have enlisted the help of Darius Rucker, Usher, will.i.am and Normani to prepare their competitors.

Duran and the rest of Shelton’s team will be mentored by Rucker, according to multiple reports.

The blind auditions end and the battle rounds begin on Monday night’s show at 8 PM on NBC. The battle rounds continue Tuesday night at 8 PM
