WORCESTER – Smokestack Urban Barbeque on Green Street in Worcester’s Canal District announced the restaurant is closing its doors on Nov. 19.

The announcement, made on social media on Wednesday night, reads, “It’s with a heavy heart that we are announcing our last day of service will be November 19th. We’ve had an incredible run here in the Canal District and would like to thank all our great customers and amazing staff! Come on in before we close and enjoy some great ‘cue.”

Originally opening on Harding Street in 2010 before moving to Green Street 10 years ago, the popular barbeque joint is among the longest-running business in the Canal District, but follows a long line of bars and restaurants recently closing their doors, including The Hangover Pub and Buck’s Whiskey & Burger Bar.

Smokestack was a popular spot in the summer with its outdoor bar and patio and its fried pickles, candied bacon, bbq mac n’cheese, spare ribs, brisket and pulled pork were all highlights on the restaurant’s menu.

Smokestack’s owners, Peter Rano and Richard Romaine, also own ‘Olo Pizza on Millbrook Street.

Between now and Nov. 19, Smokestack will be open Wednesday through Sunday.
