WORCESTER – In just two days, two streets will permanently reverse direction at Kelley Square.

Beginning overnight Tuesday, May 5 and into early Wednesday morning, May 6,  Millbury St. and the south end of Harding St. will reverse their directions.

Today, traffic on the south end of Harding St. runs from Kelley Sq. towards Crompton Park and Quinsigamond Ave. and traffic on Millbury St. moves towards Kelley Square.

Beginning Wednesday, traffic flow will reverse — with Harding St. opening up into Kelley Sq. and Millbury St. taking traffic towards Quinsigamond Ave.

The reversal of the streets will complete the permanent “peanut-shaped” roundabout traffic configuration. Starting Wednesday, cars will not be able to take a left turn into Kelley Square from Harding Street north.

Work on the street reversal will take place from 2 AM to 5 AM and a 24-hour police detail, signage and traffic control devices will be in place to help drivers navigate the new directions of the streets and the new layout of the busy intersection.

During the reversal operation on Tuesday,, parking will be prohibited on Millbury Street and Harding Street south of Kelley Square after 7 PM. MassDOT will be working with the City and the Worcester Police Department to tow vehicles as needed.

The street reversal will be completed at 5 AM and the roads will re-open.
