LEICESTER – Three teens from Connecticut are facing several charges after fleeing the scene of a vehicle break-in in Leicester in a stolen vehicle, then fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle crash in Auburn on Tuesday, August 25.
Police from Leicester, Oxford, Auburn and a Massachusetts State Police K-9 unit all contributed to the arrest of an 18-year-old man from Enfield, an 18-year-old man from Hartford and a 17-year-old female from West Hartford near the Rt. 12 and Rt. 20 intersection in Auburn.
A report of two individuals breaking into a vehicle in a Leicester resident’s driveway around 1:30 AM brought responding officers from Leicester and Oxford Police to the scene.
As police arrived, two individuals entered a vehicle with a third person
driving that failed to stop for police while leaving the area.
That vehicle was later determined to be reported stolen in Connecticut.
That vehicle crashed at the intersection of Rt. 12 and Rt. 20 a short time later. All three individuals fled from the vehicle and into the nearby woods.
A k-9 unit from the Massachusetts State Police assisted in the search for the individuals on foot.
All three individuals were located and arrested in a swap area near the crash site.
The charges these individuals will face include:
- Receiving Stolen Property +$1200
- B&E into a MV During the Night for a Felony
- Unlicensed Operation of a MV
- Failure to Stop for the Police
- Negligent Operation
- Use without Authority
- Marked Lanes Violation
