The following is an excerpt from Hopkins’ interview with Mariann Paladino, the marketing and admissions director at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester.

Iam a 60 year old woman who has lived and worked in the Worcester area my entire life. Having lived off Shrewsbury Street most of my life , as my family did , I have enjoyed the spirit of community . It has also been exciting to watch Shrewsbury Street grow, change and embrace new cultures over the past several years. Of course, I am Italian , but like many, I am half Irish! Therefore, I have also been active in the Irish Community as a member of the St Patrick’s Parade in Worcester, The Emerald Club and other organizations including my church, St. Columba in Paxton. I have enjoyed many local activities and love to volunteer for charities in Worcester. One place near and dear is the Mustard Seed, where I have gone with different groups including Notre Dame Long Term Care with a hot meal.

Please tell us about your current career and what you love most about what you do?
I am working at Notre Dame Long Term Care as the Admissions and Marketing Director. I am first off a social worker and have been able to provide support in helping elders and their families navigate the complex issues of aging. That is what I love about my job.

Mare E Monti- My favorite dish is Pappardelle Alla Bolognese. But of course, there are so many great places to eat!

Who is the most interesting person you’ve ever met?
Francis McGrath, the former City Manager I always enjoyed visiting him with my mother as a young person. He always took sincere interest in everything we talked about .

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would like to travel to Italy with my family to see our family there and where my grandfather lived.

What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
