WORCESTER – The new Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles branch in Worcester opened on Monday.

The RMV moved the Worcester branch from 611 Main St. to 50 S.W. Cutoff inside the space previously occupied by Big Y Supermarket.
The new service center has a WRTA public bus stop directly in front of the building and access to Routes 20, 122, 9, and the Mass. Pike.
The Southwest Cutoff location will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday to Friday. The new RMV will offer all transactions presently available at the downtown RMV location. There are roughly 350 parking spaces at the new Worcester RMV location.
The following amenities will be available at the new RMV center:
- 21 transaction counters
- Two walk-up exterior transaction windows for commercial agents
- On-site motorcycle testing course
- Brand new customer seating in waiting area
- Brand new HVAC equipment to improve indoor air quality
- Remote indoor air quality monitoring
- Permanently-installed HEPA air filters throughout the facility
- Tempered glass barriers separating customers and employees
- New upgraded electronic and physical security features
- Separate testing rooms for CDL and passenger permit testing
