Massachusetts’ School Systems Named Best in America

Massachusetts educators can hang their hats on the fact that their school systems are the tops in the country.

According to a recent report from the data experts at WalletHub, the Bay State is home to 2019’s best school systems.

The report — 2019’s States with the Best & Worst School Systems — compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 29 key measures of quality and safety. The data set ranges from pupil-teacher ratio to dropout rate to median standardized-test scores.

Quality & Safety of Schools in Massachusetts (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

  • 1st – Math Test Scores
  • 1st – Reading Test Scores
  • 11th – Pupil-Teacher Ratio
  • 21st – Median SAT Score
  • 2nd – Median ACT Score
  • 12th – Dropout Rate
  • 5th – Bullying Incidence Rate
  • 1st – % of Threatened/Injured High School Students
